We woke early to the sound of a loud woman nearby who didn't even pause to take breath. We packed up and got going at around 9am, driving for around 120kms to Halls Creek. We called into the Visitors' Centre there and as we were standing at the counter, we saw Steve and Linda (who we left at Broome) come around the corner and park. Steve came into the centre and we were surprised to learn that they had stayed at Mary Pool at the same time as us. We booked a 1 1/2 hour cessna flight over the Bungle Bungles and Steve decided to come along with us. The scenery was fantastic and seeing it from the air gave us a better idea of the size of the area.
Linda and Sally (the Sausage Dog)
stayed behind in their van along with Kevin and Faye (another couple we
keep bumping into). While Steve, Rick and I were enjoying our flight,
the others walked down the street to the supermarket. There they came
across a Koori couple having a major domestic argument. Apparently the
woman suddenly threw herself onto the road in front of an on-coming
4x4. Luckily, the 4x4 was able to dodge her ... had he been towing a
caravan or been driving a truck, there would have been no way he could
have stopped in time. We
all drove then to another free camping area called Spring Creek.
Again, by the time we arrived the camp was packed with caravans,
motorhomes and tents. The six of us enjoyed a few drinks and catching
up before returning to our own vans to prepare dinner.
